Water is undoubtedly one of the most crucial elements that is required for the survival of mankind. It not only keeps an individual in staying healthy and fit; rather it also makes sure that there is ample energy as well as hydration provided in the body which will maintain and ensure proper functioning of all the organs in the human body. It is rightly said that due to water being available everywhere, it is often taken for granted and loses its true relevance even though it is one of the vital things required for sustaining life on earth. It is to be noted that water is necessary for the survival of not only human beings; rather for the survival of all plants and animal species as well.
Apart from knowing the fact that water makes for 70 percent of the human body, we must also know that even if there is a 2 percent reduction in the water content in our body, we will start showing the signs of dehydration. This dehydration further causes memory loss and results in daytime fatigue in individuals belonging to all age groups. Water is typically crucial for enabling the successful functioning of all the mechanics of our body. Water is to human body what petrol is to the engine of a car. In fact all the minute cells and organs which complete the anatomy of human body require a specific amount of water for proper functioning.
Water regulates the temperature of human body
It is a very well- known fact that our bodies maintain as well as control over- heating through the process of perspiration. This is when the sweat glands present in our skin evaporate water; hence providing us with a cooling effect. Through the process of perspiration, the blood flowing closer to skin is also cooled down in a cycle which starts in the womb and ends with the death of an individual.

Transportation of blood plasma
Through the continuous flow of adequate amount of water throughout our systems, the essential components of blood, such as blood plasma, also gets a way of transporting throughout our body. This circulating blood plasma plays a very pivotal role in buffering the pH level of our body and also helps in the circulation of antibodies to and from the immune system. Water retention in body also leads to the regulation of osmotic balance, which is necessary for maintaining the proper temperature of our body.
Water as a lubricant
Water also serves as an important lubricant by assisting in all processes taking place in our body, such as digestion and breathing. When we chew food, there is saliva generated which helps us in the process of swallowing and digesting the food. The presence of water also ensures that food slides down the esophagus easily; while also providing lubrication to the cartilages and joints.
When the body is well hydrated, it also lubricates the joints and keep friction away. Friction in joints can cause various kinds of pains, such as knee pain, joint pain, and back pain and so on. Similarly, there is plenty of lubrication required for the proper working of our eyes as well.
